Book Reviews

With a gazillion sewing and craft books out there, choosing just one is like picking a favourite child—impossible and likely to cause a tantrum. My personal library is bursting at the seams with over 1000 books, covering every topic under the sun. Most are sewing-themed, but within that, there are more sub-categories than flavours at an ice cream shop: pattern cutting, fashion illustration, costume design, historical reference, home furnishings, patchwork, embroidery, and so much more.

I'm currently trying to catalogue my books, which seemed like a great idea until I realized how many there are. So, I thought, why not review them as I go? I'll attempt to organize them into categories, but this might take as long as sewing a quilt the size of Texas. To kick off this book review series, I'm starting with a book that answers the most frequently asked question I get.

"What book can you recommend for beginner sewers."

Answer: The Readers digest Complete Guide to Sewing

If time allows (and if I don't get distracted by shiny new fabric), I'll try to review a book every couple of weeks. With my extensive selection, I'm open to recommendations. Chances are, I might already own it, and if not, you won't be shocked to hear that I'm always up for buying more books, especially if they're recommended.

You don't need to have a specific book title in mind for me to review; just tossing a topic my way will be a great help in choosing the next one.

I hope you enjoy this series and remember to check back from time to time for the latest reviews
